A cooker hood is a great addition to any kitchen. It keeps the space fresh and hygienic by removing smoke, smells, and grease. However, it's important to keep a cooker hood clean for best performance. Most cooker hood models are installed at the top, filled with dust or grease and may be difficult to clean. If you feel it is challenging to clean them, we are here to guide you with the best ways to make them shine as new.
How To Clean A Metal Mesh Cooker Hood Filter
Cleaning the metal mesh of the cooker hood filter is as simple as you can do with the items at your home.

Step 6
Replace the filter when it is completely dry.
How To Clean Each Part Of Your Cooker Hood
The cooker has parts that need different kinds of attention. Depending on their function and how dirty they are. Some parts of the hood need special care and attention as they may be tough to clean with the usual methods.
Surface Cleaning
The surface of the cooker hood easily accumulates dirt and dust over time, which gives an unappealing look to the whole interior. To remove this and keep your hood shiny, you can simply wipe the surfaces regularly with a sponge or a soft cloth. If there is heavy dust, gently wipe it with a wet cloth and use dishwashing liquid if necessary. Be careful not to scrub hard, though, as you don’t want to scratch the metal, and use a soft sponge.
Glass surfaces can be more easily wiped down than metal surfaces. After removing all the grease, use a glass cleaner for a sparkling finish. Wipe with a dry cloth to avoid water stains on the shiny surface. Use a specialist stainless steel cleaner to remove dirt and fingerprints on the hood. After cleaning, add a drop of baby oil to prevent fingerprints.
Filter Cleaning
Washable filters can be cleaned using the steps above. Replace carbon filters every 3-6 months, or more often if the cooker hood is used frequently.
How To Remove The Filter From The Hood?
You can remove most filters by unclipping the knobs beneath the filter. Some models need a screwdriver and unscrew the screws to access the hood filter. Pull down the existing filter gently and wash it properly.
How To Get Rid Of Stubborn Grease On Your Cooker Hood?
Step 1
Soak the filter with warm soap water for 30 minutes. Use hot water for stainless steel hoods.
Step 2
After soaking, mix vinegar and baking soda to make a paste and apply it to the affected area. Use a scrubbing brush to remove the grease buildup.
Step 3
Rinse well under tap water and allow it to air dry.
Step 4
If grease remains, repeat the process with a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner.
Use Your Dishwasher
Wash the metal filters in the dishwasher on the highest setting for heavy stains. If they are still not clean, run them through a few more times.
Hire Professionals
If you think your cooker hoods need extra care on tough stains but are unsure what to do, hire a pro for a deep clean. Professionals can do better and help you keep your hood looking new.
